On occasion, the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia (NFSA) engage musical accompanists to support a wide range of events and activities. These may range from live performance at our silent film screenings through to performance at corporate functions.
To this end, we are establishing a NFSA Musical Accompanists Register and invite soloists and ensembles with relevant skills, musical experience and qualities to submit an Expression of Interest. Your details will be placed on the Register to be drawn upon as musical performance opportunities become available. The process is divided specifically between Live Silent Film Accompanying and All Other Musical Accompanying.
We seek professional accompanists with artistic versatility and outstanding proficiency in one or more instruments. They should have formal music education and/or proven experience in a variety of music styles and settings relevant to the sometimes highly specialised fields of live music performance involved in some NFSA public programs.
About the register
In order to be placed on the NFSA’s Musical Accompanists Register, please provide:
• A completed Musical Accompanist Expression of Interest Form which includes a statement outlining your musical skills and performance experience, and references.
• Your Curriculum Vitae
EOI Form for Musical Accompanists Register
Please note that when opportunities to perform at the NFSA do arise, the Register will be consulted in the first instance, and the selection process will be based upon suitability and availability to the specific performance. It is likely that a practical assessment of your skills will be required. Performer rates are based on negotiations between the performer and the NFSA, based on relevant skills and experience.
Your details will remain confidential on the NFSA Musical Accompanists Register, until notification in writing is received that you wish to have your details removed. In order to keep the Register current, we seek your support in alerting us if your contact details change at any time.
