Dr Serena Wolfe (Australian Anna Lise Phillips) is a ruthless misanthropic microbiologist with a steely determination, little patience for fools and a knack for hurling insults. After the untimely death of a colleague, which may or may not be Serena's fault, she is forced to endure sensitivity training with Caroline, an impossibly bubbly and optimistic sensitivity coach, who makes it her mission to turn Serena's snarl into a smile. Both leads deliver charismatic performances as a blossoming friendship leads to a 'will they, won't they?', in this hilarious comedy about friendship and bacteria.
