Meet virtual musician OhMy Kidd, warrior ranger Derangerous the Norn, and former NFSA Curator Matthew Davies, who are teaming up to take you on a trip into virtual worlds.
From Flight Sim to Second Life, Guild Wars, Dungeons and Dragons and beyond, we'll consider the personal experience, archival significance and current status of virtual worlds in an Australian context.
Matthew Davies developed his passion for sound archives in the ABC's radio archive in the 1980s and then commenced work at the NFSA in 1993 where his roles included Senior Curator of Recorded Sound; Senior Curator of Sound, Broadcast and New Media; and Senior Manager of Preservation and Technical Services. He was appointed Sound Curator Emeritus by the NFSA on his retirement in 2016. Matthew is a member of the IASA technical committee and is Vice President of the Australasian Sound Recordings Association.
Presented by the Friends of the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia.
