NFSA Restores: Eternity + Q&A
A brand-new NFSA digital restoration of Lawrence Johnston’s stunning documentary, Eternity.
It tells the story of Arthur Stace, who famously chalked the word ‘Eternity’ in elegant copperplate handwriting on the streets of Sydney.
Stace had a hard life but in 1930 he embraced Christianity, sobered up, and started his life’s work – writing his message anonymously and at night.
Today, his ‘Eternity’ is a Sydney icon, referenced by artists like Martin Sharp and emblazoned across the Sydney Harbour Bridge during the 2000 New Year’s Eve celebrations.
Followed by a Q&A with Lawrence Johnston.
