NFSA Live: Blue-Tongue Short Films live stream + Q&A
Next in our series of NFSA Live events, we are proud to present a free online screening of short films from Blue-Tongue Films, curated by NFSA Senior Curatorial Officer Nathan Smith.
The films will be followed by a live-streamed Q&A session with directors Nash Edgerton and David Michôd.
Blue-Tongue Films is an Australian film collective and production company that has produced some of Australia’s finest filmmaking talent including David Michôd, Joel and Nash Edgerton, Mirrah Foulkes, Kieran Darcy-Smith, Luke Doolan, Sean Kruck and Spencer Susser.
Their work has been nominated for Oscars and won acclaim at festivals and from audiences around the world.
We are thrilled to be presenting the following short films:
Lucky (2005) - written and directed by Nash Edgerton. A man wakes up in an unfortunate high-speed situation.
Netherland Dwarf (2008) - written and directed by David Michôd. Harry really wants a rabbit. Harry's dad really wants his wife back. In the middle of all this wanting, they both seem to have forgotten that they already have each other.
The Captain (2013) - directed by Nash Edgerton and Spencer Susser. Starring Taika Waititi as a man who wakes up with a hangover, only to discover the consequences of his actions.
Miracle Fish (2009) - written and directed by Luke Doolan. Eight-year-old Joe has a birthday he will never forget. Nominated for Best Live Action Short Film at the Academy Awards.
Trespass (2016) - written and directed by Mirrah Foulkes. Maya Stange stars as a woman walking her dog in the bush who has a disturbing encounter with a young girl.
Florence Has Left the Building (2014) - written and directed by Mirrah Foulkes. Jacki Weaver plays Florence, a foul-mouthed resident trying to escape her nursing home.
