Memory of the World
This summer we’re showcasing the Australian films which UNESCO has included in its Memory of the World Register. Screening daily this summer, these titles from our collection have great national and international significance. They include the world’s first feature film, The Story of the Kelly Gang (1906), a range of stories from the Cinesound Movietone newsreel collection and documentaries on Eddie Mabo, James Cook and New Zealand’s Treaty of Waitangi. This program complements the UNESCO Memory of the World exhibition at Canberra Museum and Gallery, open from November 2016 to March 2017.
