Rosemary’s Baby spawned a genre of supernatural horror movies. A young couple move into an apartment, only to be surrounded by peculiar neighbours and occurrences. When the wife (Mia Farrow) becomes pregnant, paranoia over the safety of her unborn child begins to control her life. Farrow and John Cassavetes are perfect as the couple. Ruth Gordon earned an Oscar for her memorable role as the nosy neighbour.

Pet Sematary is a 1980s freaky romp ripe for rediscovery: a Stephen King adaptation about a pet cemetery where the pets don’t stay buried for long. Initially set to be directed by George Romero, the film was unappreciated on its release. But it has many, many qualities that guarantee enjoyment, not least the Ramones soundtrack and an evil zombie cat!
