This documentary examines engineer-turned-novelist Nevil Shute’s career and the adaptation of his most famous novel, On the Beach, into a Hollywood feature film shot in Melbourne.

During the 1940s, Nevil Shute worked as an engineer in the British military, writing novels in his spare time. Once the war was over, he moved to Australia to focus on his writing and soon found international acclaim.

Followed by a Q&A with Lawrence Johnston.
