Aussie Indies: Angel of Mine
Our regular spotlight on recent highlights from the Australian independent filmmaking scene.
Angel of Mine is a gripping psychological thriller about obsession and loss starring Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo).
Divorced mother Lizzie (Rapace) has her life turned upside down when she crosses paths with a young girl named Lola (Annika Whiteley). Lola is the same age as Lizzie’s daughter would have been, had she not died in a hospital fire when she was a baby.
Lizzie stalks and befriends Lola’s mother Claire (Yvonne Strahovski), insinuating herself into Lola’s life until Claire becomes suspicious.
As Lizzie’s behaviour becomes increasingly disturbing, deeply buried secrets surface and the mothers learn they are connected by a devastating truth.
‘A terrific cast and a rich sense of atmosphere do a lot to keep the Australian drama Angel of Mine suspenseful’ – Los Angeles Times
