Art, Not Apart
Art, Not Apart returns to the NFSA as part of its 10th anniversary festival from 12-15 March. It’s a weekend filled with exhibitions, performance art, live music, installations, spontaneous interventions, film and projection works, markets, delicious food and drink, and wild after-parties.
Experience the free main event on Saturday 14 March from 1-7pm when the NFSA hosts one of the festival’s main stages on its lawn, as well as a jam-packed program across Arc Cinema, the Theatrette, and the NFSA Foyer.
Arc Cinema will host the premiere performance of Text Messages from the Universe, a unique and live event combining an award-winning dance film and a widely published poet in performance. It will also host multi-sensory work Line is Drawn featuring a quartet of musicians performing a soundscape that accelerates towards a poignant yet well-known song, all whilst bathed in light.
Over at the NFSA Theatrette, the program is just as engaging and diverse. Highlights include experimental artists Old Media Orchestra, a retrospective protest film and live DJ performance and a book launch by a well-known performance poet.
Outside the NFSA, the Soul Defender Stage hosts some of the festival’s headline music acts including Canberra’s favourite daughter Lucy Sugerman, hip hop heavyweight KG, electronic songstress Aphir, and the highly anticipated reunion performance by Canberra band Dub Dub Goose.
The arts will be complemented by delicious street food curated by The Forage, wine tastings by Cellar Door, and a festival bar run by the exceptional Bar Rochford – all conveniently located on the NFSA Lawn.
The free festival on Saturday 14 March has something to entertain and inspire all ages.
To celebrate the 10th anniversary, immersive events will also transform Albert Hall over the weekend, including an improvised funk fusion and projections concert on Friday 13 March, a wild performance art party after the main festival on Saturday 14 March and yoga with a DJ followed by a boutique electronic music party on Sunday 15 March.
