Arc Out Loud: Fast Times at Ridgemont High

Continuing our series of interactive, ‘out loud’ screenings. Some films deserve hushed reverence and quiet contemplation... these are not those films.  

This iconic 80s teen sex comedy features a stellar young cast including Sean Penn, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Judge Reinhold. Keep an eye out for Forest Whitaker and Nicolas Cage in small parts. 

Directed by Amy Heckerling from a screenplay by Cameron Crowe (based on experiences recounted in his book), this film is a cultural touchstone for anyone who lived through the 80s – or really anyone who remembers being a teenager! 

Spurred on by her outspoken friend Linda (Phoebe Cates), Stacy (Jennifer Jason Leigh) ends up in a complicated love triangle with the shy Mark (Brian Backer) and smooth-talking Mike (Robert Romanus). Meanwhile, perpetually stoned Jeff ‘Surf’s up!’ Spicoli (Sean Penn) has a run-in with his no-nonsense history teacher, Mr Hand (Ray Walston).
