Sound Day at the NFSA
August 18 2009
Arts Minister Peter Garrett
The NFSA celebrated the importance of sound in the landscape of Australian audiovisual culture with its annual Sound Day program.
Minister for the Arts, the Hon Peter Garrett AM MP, announced the 2009 Sounds of Australia additions. Sounds of Australia ensures that Australia’s sound heritage is heard into the future and acts as a stimulus for discussion between the public, sound industries, public institutions and the NFSA about the importance of recorded sound to all Australians. Sound Garden
Sound Garden
Rounding out this aural celebration is the new Sound Garden being planted at the NFSA in Canberra. The garden combines sound, art and technology in an interactive exhibition that allows you to listen to the sounds planted in the garden, prune them and even plant your own! The Sound Garden blooms from 19 August.
