Still Image Services, NFSA
The images in this exhibition have been selected by the NFSA’s Still Image Services (SIS) team and reflect the diversity of screen culture from cinema’s early decades. The task of SIS is to scan and create digital images of photographic material, documents and artefacts in order to preserve the original items and to make them accessible to a wider audience.
The NFSA‘s photographic collection includes more than 370,000 stills, 118,000 transparencies and 141,000 negatives as well as glass slides, and provides an important resource for writers, publishers, researchers, broadcast producers, filmmakers, advertisers and artists.
