WAKE IN FRIGHT - Arc Cinema gives you the first and best chance to see the most anticipated Australian classic re-release in many years.
HAROLD PINTER: ADAPTATION – highlighting the screenwriting work of Nobel Prize winning author Harold Pinter. Featuring collaborations with Joseph Losey, and adaptations of novels by John Fowles, Penelope Mortimer and F. Scott Fitzgerald.
J-NOIR: FILM NOIR FROM JAPAN – Japan’s very different approach to cinema’s dark side, from directors acclaimed in west, like ‘Beat’ Takeshi and Masaki Kobayashi (Kawidan), and little-known masters like Kinji Fukasaku (Battle Royale) and Masahiro Shinoda.
JERZY SKOLIMOWSKI: IDENTIFICATION MARKS – Out Polanski-ing Roman Polanski, breathtaking films from the other master of the Polish New Wave.
BERT HAANSTRA – the beauty, visual invention, and genius of Holland’s great Cannes and Oscar-winning documentary filmmaker.
MOONSHOTS - we join with CSIRO's Scinema Film Festival to celebrate The Year of Astronomy and the 40th anniversary of the landing on the moon, with a look at the films of the Space Race. The Dish will be introduced presence of real astronomers, NASA cinematographer Mark T. Lemon will talk about making movies in space, and there will be Robert Altman’s rarely seen 1968 first feature, Countdown, 60s ‘B’ Sc-Fi, Space Fact films from the NFSA collection and the new Russian cosmonaut psychological thriller Paper Solder.
MESSAGE STICKS 2009 – the best in new Indigenous Australian filmmaking, including “The New Black”: great new short films from Black Australia.

Sounds of Australia 2009
The National Film and Sound Archive's Sounds of Australia is a public registry of recordings that celebrates the unique and diverse recorded sound culture and history of Australia.
It was launched in February 2007 with a foundation list of 10. Each year, public nominations are called and 10 recordings added to the Registry, selected from the nominations by a panel of experts from the recorded sound industry and cultural institutions.
