The NFSA has four unique and beautiful art deco venues that are available for film screenings, conferences, lectures, presentations and social events: the Arc cinema, the theatrette, the courtyard and the gallery. All catering requirements are provided by our onsite café, Teatro Fellini.

Arc cinema

Arc is the NFSA’s premiere venue — a 250 seat state-of the-art screening auditorium perfect for larger conferences, lectures, presentations and award ceremonies.

The cinema is fitted with cutting-edge 35/16 mm changeover projection, using Kinoton projectors chosen for their precision technology and is fully equipped with a variety of video and digital format projection. With its high quality projection, brilliant audio and customised pre-screening light and sound shows the Arc cinema is a truly distinctive experience.

Arc cinema was great for an award presentation for budding 3D Animators. The event team are very professional and the day went without a glitch. The lovely sunny courtyard is an ideal spot for morning tea and lunch breaks. The staff are courteous and helpful… a pleasant experience.

The theatrette

The 120-seat theatrette has been adapted for use as a multimedia presentation space with the capability to display a range of digital and video media. Located off the main foyer, it is an intimate live audio, lecture and conference venue.

The theatrette is currently undergoing a major refurbishment with includes a larger stage, new seating design and new audiovisual technology. This beautiful art deco space will become available for hire again in August 2013.

The courtyard

The art deco heritage courtyard features beautifully landscaped gardens framed by cloisters. The courtyard is the perfect venue for cocktail receptions, special occasions and live music events for up to 250 people.

During summer the courtyard is a popular venue for the NFSA’s outdoor screening program and seats up to 180 people.
