MP3 Project

Instant Access - Pantdefchina
NFSA: 624289
Aussie hip hop, Christian rock bands, smoky jazz singers, anarchist punk bands - there's no end to the variety of Australian music available on-line as MP3s. Much of this music is from amateurs and those just starting out in the industry as well as established artists, either independent or currently with a recording contract. The MP3 Project focuses on collecting examples of new Australian music that appears as MP3 files on the Internet.

Joseph Bennie - Magic Box
Suite NFSA: 624286
The Project is part of the National Film and Sound Archive's broader role of collecting, preserving and making accessible contemporary Australian music. The Archive collects sound recordings made in Australia,
about Australians or made by Australians living overseas. The Australian Music Project aims to collect recorded Australian Music from all eras and genres, both historical and contemporary.

Hideous Joy - Audience
Satisfaction NFSA: 630348
Independent artists now use the Internet as a new outlet to distribute their music. Musicians from all walks of life, from all parts of the country and with various musical interests all have access to one musical forum with a national and international audience. Sharing music in this way is immediate, relatively cheap and accessible. Previously record companies, advertisers and the media provided a limited insight into Australian music - now the Internet can provide a more authentic grass-roots view.
