Bruce Beresford (Mao’s Last Dancer, Driving Miss Daisy) directs this moving film about a young Aboriginal girl longing to improve her life. Her boyfriend, a strapping young stockman (Ernie Dingo), seems to offer an escape. She has a life of love, humour and chaos within her extended family but will she sacrifice it all for her big city dreams? Country Queensland and the Indigenous connection to the land are beautifully evoked by cinematographer Don McAlpine (My Brilliant Career, Moulin Rouge!).
