Screening Loans

The NFSA offers a rich, diverse and constantly growing range of film and video screening material, which is available for loan to cinemas, film festivals, film societies and educational, cultural and community organisations.

Access is through two catalogues: NFSA Search the Collection (Theatrical Loans) and the Non-Theatrical Loans Catalogue, which includes pre-licensed titles for non-theatrical and educational use. Theatrical Loans

Search the Collection


Feature films, documentaries, shorts, cinema advertisements and other materials are available for theatrical screenings subject to approval from the rights holder and NFSA conditions of use. Titles are primarily Australian and are available on 35 mm and 16 mm film, with limited titles on high quality Betacam video. Images for many titles are also available. More »     

Non-theatrical Loans

Search NTLC



The majority of titles in the Non-Theatrical Loans Catalogue (NTLC) have been pre-licensed for non-commercial and educational screenings. This catalogue contains thousands of Australian and international features, shorts, animations, documentaries, television shows, experimental, educational and training films, available on 16mm film, DVD and VHS formats. Registered borrowers may book directly online. Theatrical screenings from this catalogue are available subject to copyright clearance. More »

All screening loans from NFSA are subject to the current Conditions of Loan.

Loan Damage and Insurance Information Sheet:
Borrowers are responsible for NFSA collection items whilst on loan and during transit. NFSA recommends that all borrowers read the Loan Damage and Insurance Information Sheet prior to loaning items.

Screening Loans Registration Form:
Organisations wishing to loan NFSA items for screening must submit a completed Screening Loans Registration Form.
