Television drama
Recent additions to the television drama collection include House Husbands, Mr and Mrs Murder, Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, Laid Series 2 and Paper Giants.
The National Film and Sound Archive of Australia has been collecting and preserving television drama in Australia since its introduction in the 1950s and is proud to have significant relationships with the industry to ensure this continues.
The NFSA endeavours to acquire and preserve a representative collection of Australian TV drama, both historical and contemporary. The collection includes Australia’s earliest drama series from 1959, Autumn Affair and Emergency as well as many of Australia’s iconic TV series; Skippy, Bodyline, The Box, Homicide, The Dismissal, Hunter, The Sullivans, Number 96 and Round the Twist.
The NFSA has formal agreements with a number of screen funding agencies, e.g. Screen Australia and Film Victoria, requiring the receipt of master audio visual materials, scripts, stills, press kits and in some cases websites for each funded TV drama production, including documentary and childrens series.
The NFSA is proud to have recently added titles such as Dripping in Chocolate, Offspring .Series 2, The Slap, Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, House Husbands, Mr and Mrs Murder, Paper Giants and Underbelly to the national drama collection through these arrangements. As well as children’s dramas Dance Academy, The Elephant Princess .Series 2 and H20: Just Add Water, which uses multimedia technology to deliver a high quality children’s program.
