Cooee Cabaret Gunnedah

The Cooee Cabaret had its second outing on Friday night in Gunnedah. Whilst the audience was smaller in size than the turn out in Mildura, they looked like they had a great time.

The cast of Nigel, Lisa and Nielsen once again thoroughly engaged the audience who laughed in all the right places and had no hesitation singing along to the Aeroplane Jelly Song or Along the Road to Gundagai. My favourite would have to be Dame Nellie Melba singing (Most People I Know) Think That I’m Crazy, but then there was the way Fanny Cochrane Smith’s story was woven into the performance.

Nigel Ubrihien, the show’s creator, had a mammoth task in putting together a musical performance piece based around the current 40 Sounds of Australia titles in a way that audiences might be inspired to search further on our website and then nominate their own favourite sounds to the Register.

It’s a crazy, irreverent romp and we hope we can bring it back to Gunnedah next year. Judging by the way almost everyone stayed on afterwards to have a cuppa, a chat and to fill out our evaluation forms, word of mouth will ensure we will be playing to a much bigger audience next time around!
