Non-ongoing (Temporary) Employment Register
The National Film and Sound Archive of Australia (NFSA) invites people with relevant capabilities, knowledge, skills and personal qualities to register for non-ongoing (temporary) employment opportunities that may become available. The broad types of work that may be available from time to time include:
Collection, Development and Outreach
- Curatorial assistants required to work in the film, sound and documents and artefacts sections of the NFSA
- Web experts including editors, developers, producers and publishers
- Audio services technicians (ACT only)
- Film services technicians (ACT only)
- Motion picture laboratory technicians (ACT only)
- Vault officers (ACT only – Mitchell)
- Receipt/dispatch officers (ACT only)
- Front of House staff (ACT only)
- Collection Access Officers (ACT and VIC)
Corporate and Collection Services
- General administrative officers, including Accessioning and data entry
- Information and communication technology support specialists (ACT only)
- Finance experts including accounts payable and receivable staff (ACT only)
- Human resource experts including payroll administrators (ACT only)
- Records management officers (ACT only)
- Facilities and services staff including property services staff (ACT only)
- Lawyers with copyright and contract expertise in an Australian Government environment (ACT only)
Office of the Chief Executive Officer
- Marketing, Communications and Public Relations experts
- Executive Assistants
The duration of non-ongoing positions may be anywhere from a couple of weeks to several months.
Positions that are available for periods longer than 12 months are advertised in the APS Jobs Website.
In order to be placed on the NFSA’s Non-ongoing (Temporary) Employment Register, you must do the following:
- A completed Non-ongoing (Temporary) Employment Registration Form
- Provide us with a concise Curriculum Vitae (less than 4 pages); and
- Write a one page statement outlining your personal attributes, communication skills and ability to work as a team member in relation to at least one of the broad types of work outlined above.

Correctly completed and submitted non-ongoing employment applications will be kept for 12 months.
