How to apply

For information on how to apply for a position at the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia, please read the documentation below.

  1. Check the Vacancies list regularly for jobs you may be interested in.
  2. Download the NFSA Applicants information and application cover sheet (below).
  3. Write your application, which should be in Microsoft Word format (sized to A4 paper).
  4. Submit your documentation to the Recruitment Officer preferably by email.

Documentation to provide

Standard Applications

To ensure full consideration of your claims the following documentation must be attached:
1. A completed NFSA Application Cover Sheet.
2. A Curriculum Vitae which at a minimum should include:

  • Your educational attainment;
  • All previous positions held for six months or more, including a description of your responsibilities and achievements in each position; and
  • Contact details for two referees who can report first hand on your work performance.

3. A response to the Selection Criteria. (We strongly recommend you keep your claims against each selection criteria to a maximum of one page per criteria)

Expression of Interest Applications

Expressions of Interest require:

  1. An Expression of Interest form (included in position description attachment)
  2. A Curriculum Vitae which at a minimum should include:

  • Your educational attainment;
  • All previous positions held for six months or more, including a description of your responsibilities and achievements in each position; and
  • Contact details for two referees who can report first hand on your work performance.

Eligibility

To be employed by the NFSA, applicants must be Australian citizens or have permanent residency status pending the granting of Australian citizenship.

Closing date

All applications must be received by the NFSA prior to 5:00pm, Australian Eastern Standard Time on the specified closing date. Late applications may not be accepted. Please note that the NFSA does not acknowledge the receipt of applications.

Referees

Always include the name, location and day time contact telephone numbers of two referees, preferably your present and former supervisors. Your referees may be contacted at any time during the selection process, but are usually only contacted if you are considered to be in serious contention for the position. The Selection Advisory Committee (SAC) may also request that written referee reports addressing the selection criteria are brought along to the interview.

Availability for Interview

You will be contacted if we would like to interview you. A minimum of two days notice for an interview will generally be provided to applicants.

Advising applicants of the outcome

All applicants that have been interviewed will be advised of the selection process outcome by telephone. Notification will be provided to others not interviewed, at the end of the recruitment process. This notification will be via Australia Post mail.

The details you provide to us when applying for this position are covered by the provisions of the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988. In submitting an application, you authorise the NFSA to use the information you have provided in the selection process for this position.
